You know, after you have lived through enough pain, there comes a point where the questions start changing.
At first, the questions are usually "Why?" Why did this happen? Why did it take so much out of me? Why did I have to fight so hard? These are real, honest, human questions. For a long time, those questions followed me through every chapter of my life: from the uncertainty of the courtroom to the quiet, lonely nights where I was still trying to find my footing.
There were seasons where I was so focused on surviving that I didn’t realize how much the experience was shaping me while I was living it. But eventually, the question shifted. It became: What do I do with what I lived through?
That shift is the heart of The B.O.L.D. and Unbreakable Experience. It’s the moment where we stop asking why the storm happened and start asking how we can use the debris to build something stronger.
Reclaiming the Narrative: The Birth of B.O.L.D.
As the Founder and CEO of Bravely Overcoming Life’s Difficulties (B.O.L.D.), I’ve dedicated my life to helping individuals and organizations transform life's toughest challenges into stepping stones for lasting success.
In our first few episodes, we walked through the breaking, the resilience, and the battle against fear. Today, we arrive at the framework that rose from those ashes. B.O.L.D. didn’t come from a textbook; it came from the trenches of my own life. It is the roadmap I used to make sense of a story that felt like it was falling apart.

The B.O.L.D. Framework: Your Roadmap to Transformation
B.O.L.D. stands for Background, Obstacles, Lessons Learned, and Determination. This isn't just a catchy acronym: it's a journey rooted in psychological research and lived experience. It’s about understanding that what tried to break you doesn't get to define you.
B – Background: Reconnecting with Who You Are
Whether we realize it or not, background matters. None of us enter a difficult season empty-handed. We are shaped by family, culture, and previous wounds.
Drawing from Urie Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, we know our development is shaped by layered environments. Dan McAdams’ Narrative Identity Theory tells us that we make sense of our lives through the stories we tell about ourselves.
When I look at my own life: becoming a young mother, military life, and the deep love for my children: I see the context that shaped the person who had to face the storm.
One of the most powerful questions I ask my clients is: Who were you before life hurt you? Underneath the survival mode is a person worth reconnecting with. Healing isn’t just about moving forward; it’s about remembering your inherent worth before the pain tried to rename you.
O – Obstacles: Understanding the Architecture of Stress
Obstacles are more than just the events themselves; they are how the experience presses on your identity. Based on the work of Richard Lazarus and Susan Folkman, stress is not just what happens to you, but how you perceive and cope with it.
For me, the obstacle wasn’t one moment: it was years of courtrooms, separation from my children, and emotional fatigue. These obstacles change the "emotional architecture" of your life. They can make you guarded or afraid to trust. But obstacles also reveal things: they reveal strength you didn't know you had and a faith that becomes deeper than emotion.
L – Lessons Learned: Turning Scars into Wisdom
If we aren't careful, pain only leaves us with scars. But when we process that pain, it leaves us with wisdom.
Through the lens of David Kolb’s experiential learning and Jack Mezirow’s Transformative Learning Theory, we see that critical reflection can change our entire perspective. I learned that resilience isn’t always graceful: sometimes it’s just showing up when you’re exhausted. I learned that real faith can survive hard questions.
What has your current season taught you about your voice, your worth, and your endurance?
D – Determination: The Quiet Refusal to Disappear
Determination is deeper than motivation. As Albert Bandura’s work on self-efficacy suggests, it’s the belief that you can still influence your future even in difficult circumstances.
Determination doesn't always look like a shout. Sometimes, it’s the quiet decision to keep going: to keep working while grieving, to keep praying while waiting. It is the refusal to let the chapter end where the wound happened.

Unwritten Pages: A Declaration of Hope
You might have heard my single, "Unwritten Pages," or seen the music video. This concept is the thread running through the B.O.L.D. mission.
It means that painful chapters are real, but they are not final. For years, my life felt consumed by survival. But eventually, prayer and gratitude built a new beginning. "Unwritten Pages" is my testimony in song: a declaration that what hurt me was not all there was to my life.
Are you ready to stop viewing yourself through the lens of what hurt you? Are you ready to see yourself through the lens of what is still being written?
