What is coaching?
Coaching is when we sit down together and figure out what’s going on in your life, what you want to change, and what to do about it. I ask questions, I listen, and I help you make a plan you can actually follow.
Is coaching the same as therapy?
No. A therapist treats mental health conditions. That’s not what I do. Coaching is about where you are now and where you want to go next. Some people see a therapist and a coach at the same time, and that works fine. If I think you need a therapist, I’ll tell you.
Who do you work with?
People going through big changes. Maybe you lost a job, left a career, went through a divorce, lost someone you love, or just woke up one day and realized your life doesn’t look the way you planned. If you feel stuck and you’re ready to move, I can help.
What do you actually do?
I use something I created called the B.O.L.D. method. It stands for:
- Background: where you’ve been
- Obstacle: what’s in your way
- Lessons Learned: what your experiences taught you
- Determination: what you’re going to do next
We go through each one together so you can stop spinning and start moving.
How does it work?
First, we have a free phone call to see if we’re a good fit. If we are, we set goals, meet on a regular schedule, and talk through what’s working and what isn’t. After each session, you’ll have something to work on before we meet again.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you want to work on. Some people come for help with one big decision. Others want more time to rebuild. Most of my clients work with me for 3 to 6 months. We’ll figure out what makes sense for you on our first call.
How long is each session?
Sessions are 60 minutes. Most people meet every week or every other week.
Do we meet online or in person?
Either one. We can meet by video from anywhere, or in person at my office in Frederick, Maryland.
Do you take insurance?
No. Insurance doesn’t pay for coaching because it isn’t medical care. I do offer payment plans.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the program. We’ll go over the options on your free call.
Will you keep what I tell you private?
Yes. What you share with me stays between us. The only time I would have to share something is if someone’s safety is in danger or the law requires it.
What if I’m in a crisis right now?
Coaching isn’t for emergencies. If you’re in crisis or thinking about hurting yourself, please call or text 988, or call 911.
What will I get out of it?
Most people tell me they feel less stuck, more confident, and clearer about what to do next. But you have to put in the work. I’ll be there to guide you and keep you on track, and you bring the effort.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
If you keep thinking, “I know something needs to change, I just don’t know where to start,” coaching is probably a good fit. The easiest way to know for sure is to talk.
